Excellent Communication/ Customer Service- over 3 years of retail experience in Morrisons and Tescos has allowed me to improve my communication and know how to go above and beyond to provide great, personable customer service.

Insightfulness- I am very thorough in everything I do because of my belief in providing high quality work. I am able to quickly spot my own mistakes and correct them, providing an ever improving quality of work.

Creativity- I have always had a passion for Art. I have taken this creativity and applied it to my Design Studio work, which can be seen through the variety in styles and Designs.

Adaptable- I am a fast learner, who can pick up new skills quickly, allowing me to be an independent worker in a fast paced changing environment.

Teamwork- I work well in a team because I am flexible. I am comfortable taking a leadership role whilst always being considerate of others needs and wants. I also welcome being guided by others, making me a great Team Player.

At NTU I have enjoyed my time studying Architecture and am eager to continue further. I am interested in conservation/ historical Architecture because of my interest in history and I would love to work with organisations such as National Trust in the future. During third year, my knowledge and passion for sustainable Architecture has developed hugely as a result of my research during our Professional Practise module. This lead me to partake in the Sustainability in Enterprise project as well as choosing an Atelier in Design Studio that focuses on sustainable design. I would love the chance to merge these interests and work on sustainably renovating buildings in the future. Design Studio has consistently been my favourite module as I love the creative and research elements however professional practise is also proving to be very interesting, giving us an insight into life in practise and creating a Design Tender.

Extra Curricular-

Sustainability in Enterprise Project- This project uses our knowledge of Tech and Environment to create a document analysing the structure of 2 small/medium sized enterprises in Nottingham to make design suggestions that could be added to improve their Carbon Footprint. I am working in a group of 5 third year students and we are using Sefaira and Sketchup to create a model to analyse, providing evidence to support our suggestions.

RIBA Future Architects student mentoring scheme- This involves having video calls regularly with a practising Architect to gain an insight into life in practice and ask questions about the journey to being qualified. My mentor works for Purcell Architects and was paired with me because of my interest in conservation and residential Architecture.

Maker Club - I have recently attended the Maker Club at NTU where craft and the act of making is used as a form of relaxation. I am using this experience to interview people and gain experience on how Well-being can be improved in Architecture Schools to support my Context Module.

Work Experience-

Simon Coley Architect- May 2022- Present

I am currently doing some work for Architect Simon Coley on numerous residential properties in the conservation area of the High Peak. This includes carefully following the local development framework to ensure the design is respectful of local context, assisting with the planning application and creating visuals.

Morrisons Customer Assistant- August 2018- September 2021

Tesco Customer Assistant- November 2021-December 2021

During Sixth form- Year three of University I have worked part time as a Customer Assistant which greatly developed my Communication and Team Work skills. As a result of this role I am comfortable communicating with colleagues and give fantastic, personable customer service. I enjoyed this role as I love people which is one of the reasons I am eager to create Architecture because of its powers to shape communities!

Art and Design Unpaid Work Experience- Eckington Sixth form

I have always been passionate about Art, Photography and crafts which lead to me choosing to study Architecture. As a result of this interest I returned to the School where I attended Sixth Form to gain work experience as a teaching assistant as at the time I wished to see whether this would be a possible route for me. It was a great experience and I gained confidence and independence from running sessions with secondary age children. During September I ran a day of Summer school where I planned an Art session for y6 students who were transitioning to Secondary School. This improved my leadership and organisation skills as I had to plan the lesson and maintain control of the class.

Architecture Unpaid Work Experience- 2019

In summer 2019, before attending University, I gained work experience by shadowing Freelance Architect Simon Coley in office and on site at his current residential projects. I then had the fantastic opportunity of attending a site visit to the Buxton Crescent with lead Architect of CTD Architects Chris Hesketh, as it was undergoing restoration and renovation works to become a luxury hotel. This first hand experience of seeing the building works of an impressive listed building is what started my interest in Conservation Architecture.

Interests-

Outside of University, I enjoy Art and Photography- you can see some of my Architectural Photography Images as the headers on these pages! I am also very sociable and love meeting up with my friends for food and drinks. At weekends, I often go walking in the Peak District around Ladybower, Castleton and Chatsworth.

Future-

Once finishing my part one, I hope to find a placement in an Architecture practice in the North/ Midlands to gain experience and to improve my skillset. I then want to return to education to get my Masters in Architecture and I am considering doing this through a Level 7 Architect Degree Apprenticeship which will allow me to work whilst studying part time. I would love to work in conservation, private housing or carbon zero designs as I find these areas of Architecture the most interesting.  Outside of work I hope to get into property development and I am eager to buy my first house as soon a possible.
