Construction Systems

In this year 2 Technology and Environment project I created Plans and Sections of a steel structure to be inserted into the ruins of an existing building. I used Sketchup to create a model showing the construction layers from steel structure to external cladding. I identified which size columns and beams were needed for the span, and them made these accurately in Sketchup. I then made the components for each layer of structure and then added them to my model.

This project helped improve my knowledge of construction systems and which materials and structural elements are needed where which has been useful to apply to my Design Studio projects.
